CFO – Carlow

Hybrid role

Salary: €110k+

The successful CFO will be ambitious and hardworking, with the ability to combine attention to detail with understanding of the big picture. They will need to be highly driven, focused individual that can prioritise and work well with internal and external partners at all levels. In this position you will be expected to lead strategic initiatives, drive process improvements, manage a developing team and exercise good business judgement while performing your role.



The role will involve:

  • Day to day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of the company, accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, legal and partnership compliance
  • Manage the finance and accounting function across all areas including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash forecasting, payroll and budgeting
  • Develop, own and drive improvements on a key set of financial KPI’s on behalf of the business
  • Manage and lead the Finance team to ensure that they are highly engaged and have the skill sets, resources and support needed to deliver in their role and achieve their objectives
  • provide training, mentoring, and coaching to the Finance team members
  • Full ownership of financial reporting, from monthly management accounts to statutory financial statements, including the co-ordination of statutory audits
  • Responsible for the management of the external audit process
  • Assist with annual audit and implement any required recommendations and findings
  • Prepare yearly budget and forecasting and track the company’s financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
  • Lead the annual process for budgeting, forecasting, and planning with department heads and the Management Team
  • Analyse costs, pricing, variable contribution, sales results, and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans
  • Overall responsibility for the delivery of high-quality financial modelling, monthly projections/forecasts, monthly management accounts and cashflow planning
  • Monitor pricing and margins, ensure products and project costings are accurately maintained and processes are in place to make accurate estimates
  • Support the payroll function to resolve any issues, discrepancies, or complex queries
  • Provide leadership in the development and continuous evaluation of short and long term strategic and financial objectives
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement, cost efficiencies, business intelligence, process automation across the organisation as we scale
  • Develop an internal financial control framework that supports effective decision making as the business grows
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and tax reporting requirements. Liaise with external tax advisors as required covering VAT, PAYE and corporation tax
  • In line with company strategy develop supporting investment strategies that will enable the company to scale and achieve short and longer term growth targets
  • Provide expert advice on statutory, regulatory, and technical accounting matters
  • Support the identification of business development and growth opportunities for the group
  • Manage and maintain successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Create strong business partnerships and manage service levels with third party service providers
  • Manage corporate insurances and renewals



  • Professional Accountancy Qualification – CPA, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent
  • Qualified Accountant with a minimum of 10 years post qualification experience, and a track record of successfully managing a best practice finance function in a high growth environment
  • Previous experience working at Finance Manager or Financial Controller level, in a manufacturing and service environment, ideally with experience dealing with international markets
  • Strong commercial acumen, be results focused, solutions oriented and the proven ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level
  • Energetic, highly motivated, with a growth mindset and passion for excellence and innovation in pursuit of business growth and success
  • Experience of mergers and acquisitions and integration of businesses from a financial perspective
