Customs Clearance Officer

We are recruiting for a Customs and Compliance officer to join the business in its Ireland to UK & Euro Freight operations. Initially successful candidates will be involved in the busy Customs Clearance Department. Opportunities may arise to move into other areas of the organisation, to broaden and develop your experiences and professional path. The positions will be based in Dublin.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of customs clearance requirements and procedures
  • Systems driven with excellent attention to detail
  • experience with Customs agency/brokerage services are desirable
  • Excellent understanding of supply chains and of the freight forwarding arena
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years previous senior experience in a similar or complementary role
  • Qualifications related to Customs agency

 

Key Duties in the role:

 

  • Experience on all customs-related matters
  • Positive and proactive participation and active collaboration with colleagues, partners and customers.
  • Ensure all goods moving are customs cleared in a timely fashion. Customs clearance will be both to/ from Great Britain and other third countries
  • Co-ordinate with trailer planning colleagues to confirm which consignments are in order to ship and to optimise how loading should take place
  • Control Common Transit consignments, both national and international
  • Management of all paperwork required to allow the company to operate on behalf of customers
  • Liaise with customs authorities, both in regard to clearance queries and subsequent audit
  • Management and maintenance of company AEO accreditation
  • Develop the customs function as a profit centre
  • Work with customers to ensure the smoothest possible transfer of customer data, with a focus on maximising use of EDI
  • Manage and control customer charges to maximise customs revenues
  • Responsible for the control and update of all changes to the customs code and for ensuring customs team within NIC are aware of implications of any changes
  • Creating and discharging T1 Documents
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and Revenue
  • General Administration
