Retail Manager

Mullingar, Full Time

Executive Talent are currently seeking an experienced retail store manager to join our client’s team in Mullingar. The successful candidate will be joining the team and be expected to grow and develop the team and store to be aligned with the company ethos. Candidates must have 5 years retail experience along with people management experience. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • To deliver store sales within budget, by leading a resourced, motivated and engaged team
  • To ensure that the retail strategy developments are implemented in the Store and fully communicated to and understood by the team
  • To fully understand commercial performance, driving sales and maximising margins and profits.
  • Achievement of objectives, sales targets & budgets
  • Reporting on delivery of sales targets and activities
  • Responsibility for Health & Safety on site ensuring all Health and Safety standards are adhered to at all times in line with statutory legislation and Company policy. Addressing any safety concerns as they arise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Work closely with the Head of Retail & head of marketing to ensure marketing strategies are understood and being met
  • Ensure store fully resourced to ensure levels of customer service are maintained and targets achieved
  • Deliver effective succession plans throughout the team in order to deliver progression and manage vacancies in the store
  • Develop the team through proactive personal development plans which are formally reviewed annually and informally on an ongoing basis as and when required
  • Conduct exit interviews at Store level for all leavers to identify key areas of risk
  • Through coaching and leadership ensure that the mission statement, values, business objectives and retail objectives are understood and fulfilled in the Store
  • Identify and manage poor performance as appropriate
  • Manage customer and vendor relationships
  • Drive training and development for store members and overall team

Customer Service

  • Proactively manage store mystery shopper reports striving for sustainable improvement
  • Talk to customers directly to gain an understanding of their experience, product requests, technical and colour requirements etc
  • Monitor and drive the delivery of Customer experience in store always leading by example
  • Manage and reduce risk in store

Commerciality

  • Ensure accurate space and product strategy to drive sales
  • Drive out performance of sales budgets through analysing relevant reports and coaching the Store team
  • In conjunction with Head of Retail, develop and roll out suite of programmes for consumer
  • Utilise space management effective seasonal and product marketing and initiatives
  • Develop and maintain strong awareness of the local market and our competitors and exploit opportunities
  • Build relationships to identify and grow local opportunities

Managing Profit & Costs

  • Manage store costs in order to maximise profits
  • Interpret daily, weekly, monthly figures and action as required
  • Drive sales volumes and increase margins through innovative sales and marketing initiatives
  • Drive for sustained improvements on reducing poor performers
  • Identify opportunities to promote products
  • Ensure stock file accurately reflects stock on hand and stocktaking.
  • Effective management of Cash Control
  • Effective stock taking
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures relating to security of company monies and stock are strictly adhered to at all times.
  • General housekeeping to include cleaning and the upkeep and filling of the shelves on the showroom floor, on a daily basis

Communication

  • Adopt an inspirational leadership style which will both encourage a high level of morale within the store and drive a positive “Can Do” attitude, positively influencing the team.
  • Take ownership and drive effective communication in the store, always leading by example and ensure communication is timely and consistent

  • Undertake any other duties as requested by the Head of Retail/Senior Management.
