Role: Accounts Assistant

Location: Dublin 24

Salary: €45k

Hours of Work: 8:30am – 17:00pm

 

Role Requirements:

  • Accurately record all sales and purchase transactions, ensuring they are properly coded and up to date.
  • Regularly reconcile customer and supplier accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
  • Process purchase and sales invoices, ensuring accuracy in line with company policies, and assist in the processing of payments.
  • Maintain daily cash and till reconciliation, posting transactions accurately to the nominal ledger.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and year-end financial accounts, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Maintain and reconcile control accounts for both sales and purchases ledgers, ensuring consistency across all financial records.
  • Summarise, reconcile, and prepare bi-monthly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
  • Provide support to other departments as required, including resolving accounting-related queries and assisting with financial reporting.
  • Provide general administrative support within the finance department to ensure the smooth running of daily operations.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved.
  • Oversee petty cash transactions, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation on a regular basis.
  • Assist with credit control tasks, including sending payment reminders and following up on overdue invoices.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other management reports.
  • Support the finance team during audit periods by providing necessary documentation and clarifying financial data as required.
  • Provide support in processing payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payments to employees.
  • Ensure all accounting activities are compliant with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant financial regulations.
  • Assist in special financial projects or process improvements as directed by the Finance Manager or Senior Accountant.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • 3 years of experience in a busy accounts office, with a strong knowledge of retail store back office.
  • Previous experience with bank reconciliation.
  • Strong IT and Accounting Systems background.
  • Experience communicating with suppliers and other external agencies.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work off own initiative.
