Our client is seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Heat Pump Specialist/Engineer to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heat pump systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. You will also play a key role in ensuring optimal system performance, energy efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

 

Role Requirements:

  • Install heat pump systems according to manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.
  • Perform system start-ups and commissioning, ensuring systems operate efficiently.
  • Conduct pre-installation site assessments and prepare reports for clients.
  • Conduct regular servicing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics of heat pump systems.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues, including electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant system problems.
  • Provide preventative maintenance and system optimization recommendations to clients.
  • Diagnose faults in heat pump units and perform repairs as necessary.
  • Replace defective parts, including compressors, fans, thermostats, and sensors.
  • Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Offer technical advice and recommendations to customers regarding system upgrades or improvements.
  • Provide training and guidance to customers on the efficient operation and maintenance of their heat pump systems.
  • Maintain excellent customer service standards to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Complete service reports, job sheets, and any required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes and health and safety regulations.
  • Keep up-to-date records of all installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Conduct energy audits and recommend energy-saving solutions to clients.
  • Ensure that systems are compliant with local regulations, including refrigerant handling and energy efficiency standards.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, contractors, and technicians as required to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Assist with troubleshooting complex system issues and share knowledge with colleagues

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Heat Pump Installation or equivalent certification preferred.
  • F-Gas certification (essential for refrigerant handling).
  • Proven experience (Min. 3 years) in the installation, servicing, and maintenance of heat pump systems, including air-source, ground-source, and hybrid systems.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and heat pump operations.
  • Experience with diagnostics, fault finding, and troubleshooting of heat pump systems.
  • Strong knowledge of heat pump components and system operation.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and system schematics.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve system issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer interaction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality service.
