Role: Mechanic

Location: North Dublin

Role Requirements:

  • Conduct diagnostics to identify vehicle issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance on cars, trucks, and commercial vehicles (e.g., oil changes, brake checks, tyre fitting, etc.).
  • Repair or replace defective parts and components (e.g., exhaust systems, timing belts, starters, alternators).
  • Inspect and service engine systems, electrical systems, and transmissions.
  • Use diagnostic tools and technology to identify faults in vehicle systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the workshop.
  • Maintain accurate service records for all vehicles serviced.
  • Ensure all work is documented, including parts used, time taken, and any follow-up requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members in the workshop to ensure efficient workflow.

 

Candidate Roles:

  • National Craft Certificate (Heavy Vehicle Mechanic) or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years’ post-apprenticeship experience as an HGV Mechanic or similar.
  • Proven experience with diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of a range of heavy vehicles.
  • Familiarity with vehicle inspection standards and DOE/NCT testing procedures.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools and computer-based fault-finding systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills for liaising with supervisors, drivers, and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of electric or hybrid HGV systems.
  • Trailer maintenance or tachograph calibration experience.
