Role: Transport Planner
Location: North Dublin
Salary: €40k
Hours: Weekly/ bi weekly rotating shift of Monday to Friday, 5am to 2pm and 1pm-10pm, including every 3rd Saturday, 5am to finish.
Role Requirements:
- Plan and organise domestic vehicles for the transport of goods to domestic, road freight, and logistics customers.
- Ensure the efficient use of vehicles, monitoring trunking performance, and load planning.
- Manage transport administration and keep collection/delivery statuses updated.
- Monitor vehicle utilisation and deal with transport-related queries by liaising with other depots and departments.
- Proactively liaise with warehouse staff and drivers to ensure timely and high-quality service.
- Respond to customer inquiries, resolve reported issues, and ensure that problems are brought to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Handle customer shipment tracking inquiries and provide updates in a professional manner.
- Accurately complete data within company systems, ensuring timely and efficient processing.
- Process new job data received from customers (via mail, spreadsheet, or EDI) and ensure customer rates and supplier charges are correctly applied.
- Communicate with warehouse and yard staff regarding inbound trailer arrivals and offloading procedures, in line with customs requirements.
- Ensure drivers follow protocols and return to depots for debriefing, making sure driver apps and handheld units are used correctly.
- Ensure that transport routing and GPS systems are operational at all times, particularly for the distribution fleet based in Dublin.
- Maintain and ensure high levels of customer service are delivered consistently.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar transport planning or logistics role is essential.
- Experience within road freight or domestic transport logistics is highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry and administrative tasks.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with customers, drivers, and various departments.
- Ability to prioritise and execute tasks efficiently.
- Proactive attitude and a problem-solving mindset.
- High level of accountability and responsibility for your tasks and actions.
- Familiarity with transport management systems (TMS), GPS tracking, and software tools related to logistics is advantageous.
